With a new year comes time to reflect on the last – and 2020 was certainly a strange one to reflect on, particularly for teachers!

Primary school teachers have been particularly challenged throughout 2020, and with home schooling looking to continue throughout the first quarter of 2021 at least, we at World Class Teachers want to applaud teaching staff for all of their efforts.

From ensuring their lessons can continue remotely, through to supporting pupils and families that may be struggling, primary school teachers, and much of the educational sector have had to quickly adapt and take on new challenges throughout the pandemic to help ensure that children are receiving the best standard of teaching possible.

Checking in With Students

Checking in with pupils has always been of utmost important for teachers, but doing so is much easier when classroom education could take place.

Primary school teachers over the last year have had to provide virtual check-ins with pupils, be that over video call, email or phone call, offering check ups for both educational and social purposes.

For children who have not had access to these online resources, primary school staff have had to adapt to ensure that these pupils are not forgotten and that they receive the best level of support, no matter their circumstances.

Facing Challenges Head-On

Whether it has been seeking help from peers and fellow teaching staff or by building better relationships with head teachers, primary school teachers have tackled any issues they may be facing personally, by communicating with the people around them even more than they were pre-pandemic.

Whether it was through creating a virtual staff room, buddy networks or rota systems to get back in the classroom, this resilience and approach to these new challenges are to be commended.

As a primary teaching agency in London, we are here to offer our continued support to current primary teaching staff and also provide opportunities and vacancies for those looking to get into the role.
